 Organic Farm Day Out

As a community we regularly visit organic farms to meet our local farmers, find out exactly where our food comes and how hard the farmers work to ensure we have access to real, whole, fresh, seasonal, pesticide-free food. It's important to know where your food comes from. Is locally and ethically grown? Sustainable? Is there genetic engineering involved? Hormones? Antibiotics? How do we really know?

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT TO US?

🥒 Knowing where your food comes from bridges the gap from farm to table. Having this connection develops a healthy relationship with food, allowing you to appreciate and respect that food is not indispensable. It also allows for the understanding of how vegetables, nuts and seeds are grown, how chickens are raised, or how grains are produced. Eating shouldn’t be a fast mindless action, but rather an experience which also nourishes the body.

🍆 You are mindful about what you are putting into your body and your family’s bodies. Buying packaged and processed food means that you are buying a bunch of ‘extras’ that you really may not want to be consuming. Take a look at an ingredients list. Shelf stable and processed foods typically translate into preservatives, dangerous trans fats, loads of sodium and sugars. On the other hand, fresh, seasonal, pesticide-free, meals made from scratch and whole foods translate to 'clean' eating.

🥕 Your food doesn’t travel as far from the farm to your plate. Less travel means less carbon emissions negatively impacting the environment and produce is more nutrient-dense. Buying from the farmer you are also 'voting with your shopping dollar' and directly supporting them...not the supermarket!
Sustainable is a film about the land, the people who work it and what must be done to sustain it for future generations.  A vital investigation of the economic and environmental instability of our food system, from the agricultural issues we face — soil loss, water depletion, climate change, pesticide use — to the community of leaders who are determined to fix it.

Social Events

In an increasingly disconnected world belonging to a community with purpose has never been more important. Connect with others who share your passion and values, make lifelong connections and most importantly....have fun!

"There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about."
– Margaret J. Wheatley

Live Clean Collective health coaches joined the Southern Ocean Swim community for a fabulous morning! Starting with music and dance to Jerusalema - "uniting the world during the pandemic." Then we practiced the Wim Hof breath method followed by a chilly but invigorating swim in the ocean.
